Through engaging local history narratives, creative storytelling, and educational consulting, the blog serves as a resource for educators, researchers, community members, and inquisitive minds seeking to deepen their understanding of African American contributions to America and, more specifically, Midwestern heritage.
More importantly, this Blog aims to inspire dialogue, foster cultural appreciation, and support inclusive education across schools, museums, and historical institutions. To achieve this goal, I will be sharing my many ways of creativity, not limited to blog writing, but also through video form and my personal art projects.

I am a passionate history teacher who loves helping students see how the past continues to shape the present. Four years ago, I launched an African American Studies class at my high school and also began teaching the course at the community college. While working on my Ph.D. in History, I came to realize how much of history the average person never has the chance to study unless they actively seek it out. My own journey of reading, traveling, and exploring historical sites around the world showed me how much more there always is to learn. Traveling across the United States with my family, visiting museums and historic places, has deepened both my knowledge and my teaching. Beyond history, I love spending time outdoors, exploring new places, and, whenever possible, immersing myself in the creativity of oil painting.
